Gallery 360 welcomed local ceramic artist Jamie Lang with an exhibition that explores contemporary surface applications for clay tile, entitled Urban Vestiges. Lang layers multi-media pigments and photo transfers on time honored adobe clay tiles, then encases the surfaces in encaustic wax medium. These highly textural structures combine geometric patterns, architectural elements, and nature based photography in continuous but segmented wall hanging art pieces. This juxtaposition of classic ceramic materials and fresh modern design ideas work together to show the beauty and diversity of handmade tile.
